As you know, there are many posts across the web containing lists of Tops and Charts with the best guitar players of all time. Since the last post we made about that topic, we have been receiving many feedbacks,
with different opinions, and even us, here at the GFV Team, have our own personal discussions over those “Tops”. So, the best way to solve this issue, it’s to create our own Board. And for that, we want your votes.
Send us a list of five guitar players that you consider to be the most brilliant of all time. We’ll create a post every day with the updated results, containing the first 50 of the list, and the number of votes each one has.
But that’s not all. Since we are a guitar video website, based on lessons and video tabs from other guitarists, why not send us a video of yourself, playing some riffs from those guitarists you love so much? Send us your videos, and show us how you play the songs, with some riffs, or just the solo bit. We’ll award your videos in two categories.
The first prize will be given to the video we find more accurate to the original piece. On this case, we’ll give great importance to the difficulty of the song, the way it’s played and other criteria created by us. The second prize will be given randomly, where we will give a number to each video received, in a kind of lottery style. This one is created to thank you for your contribution, whether it’s a good or bad one.
Both prizes include a Sony DCR-DVD115E Handycam, for you to record your videos. So, what are you waiting for?? Send us a list with five guitarists, or record a video with yourself playing some of their songs. To be eligible to win the prizes, only the videos will be considered, although we are considering giving also a random award, just for you five name list participation.
Help us make GuitarFreeVideos a great community, where guitar players from around the world can share their videos and experiences, in a free way, helping us all to grow as musicians, enhacing our own skills and sharing thoughts and ideas. You can continue to send us videos where you’ll be pounding your guitar, showing us how to change strings, or just playing one of your own songs if you like.
Start recording your videos or writing your names on a comments section, or through our contact page. Good Luck!!
This is one of the songs that doesn’t need introducion… It’s one of the most played and listened tracks of the past century, and you can recognize it by the first chord…. Enjoy!

To all our Police fans, here’s a great video performed by Andy Summers, where he shows how to play some of the band’s greatest hits, like “Roxanne” and “Message in a Bottle”. If you’ve ever wondered how the original songs are played, this video is the answer.

Learning all of the notes on your neck can be a daunting task.
Despite all of the methods you can use to learn new notes on the fretboard, the best way is repetition.

Learn to play one of the classics. This is a begginers lesson, but great to play along at any ocasion, among friends, or on a real gig!!

Two of the best songs from the album “Pornograffitti”. Nuno Bettencourt shows you how to play some of his riffs from “Decadance Dance” and “Get the Funk Out”. Although it seems a bit advanced, try to practise these techniques. They’re a great challenge to improve your guitar skills, and believe us, it’s the most rewarding thing when you start to play like that. So go ahead and practise ntil your fingers start to go numb, it will worth every minute of it.
This is one of the coolest 30 STM songs. In this acoustic version, you can really see the finger and chord movement from Jared Leto’s hands.
